About us

Antenna at Lauberhorn

The initial situation

The impressive mountain landscape around the Eiger and the Mönch attracts numerous people every year. The famous FIS Ski World Cup takes place on the Lauberhorn every year next to these giants. The communication infrastructure thus needs to be optimally designed for such a major event. On behalf of Sunrise, Enkom handled and implemented the whole acquisition and engineering process for the antenna construction along the entire route of the race.

The challenges

The location of the antenna at the start of the route is outside the zone plan in the agricultural zone. Due to the unusual location, it requires close cooperation with the authorities, as well as extensive clarifications with the grantor of the construction rights and the developer. The construction of the antenna is challenging due to the climatic conditions at an altitude of 2300 meters. The site is located in alpine terrain; it is thus in the highest wind load zone and can only be reached by helicopter or ski in winter. It takes 40 cubic meters of concrete to set up such a construction site and build the foundation.

Our solution

We handled the entire process from site inspection to construction.

Our tasks in the acquisition process

  • Area Review
  • Obtaining the consent of the owner
  • Technical inspection carried out on site and all necessary recordings and photos taken
  • Preparation and development of the concept
  • Joint use clarifications with other operators
  • Preliminary non-ionising radiation calculations (measurements of radiation) / desktop analyses drawn up
  • Dialogue with the community
  • Contract negotiated and concluded with the owner

Our tasks in the engineering process

  • Technical site surveys (draughtsman, site manager, non-ionising radiation team)
  • Creation of the 3D plans, including internal and external planning controls
  • Non-ionising radiation calculations (measurements of radiation) drawn up and finalised
  • Preparation of the planning application dossier / obtaining signatures
  • Building application submitted to the municipality
  • Construction profiles created
  • Publication and approval processes of the authorities closely monitored
